Maxent MX-50X3 review
23 May 2006
Washington Post reviews Maxent MX-50X3 50″ plasma television:
Maxent’s MX-50X3 50-inch plasma HD monitor delivers good image quality on both high-def and standard TV content, but it’s not exactly a TV. Like any plasma monitor, it offers neither an analog NTSC tuner (for standard content) nor a digital ATSC tuner (which makes high-definition content possible). It’s not an HDTV; it’s just HDTV-ready. Maxent is admirably forthcoming about the distinction between a plasma TV and a plasma monitor, calling out the differences on a package insert and in prominent text on the box. The biggest surprise is the combination of pleasing image quality and low price.
Vizio P50 HDM review
23 May 2006
Washington Post reviews Vizio P50 HDM:
The first thing to understand about the Vizio 50-inch P50 HDM is that it’s a plasma HD monitor, not a full-fledged plasma HDTV. This means that it forgos an analog NTSC tuner and a digital ATSC tuner, instead requiring an external tuner to display any kind of TV content. Priced at $2500 on 4/17/2006, the P50 HDM costs considerably less than an actual HDTV. However,PC Worldfound better image quality in another plasma HDTV monitor at the same cost.
Samsung HP-S5053 review
23 May 2006
Washington Post reviews Samsung HP-S5053:
Samsung’s HP-S5053 plasma HDTV looks striking, and not just because of its massive 50-inch panel. The shiny black cabinet and stand, complete with brushed-metal accent and a blue-lit power button, make quite a living-room focal point. Its image quality is generally pleasing, too.
