HD-Ready vs. HDTV

A television that is capable of display HDTV broadcasts, but requires an external set-top box with an ATSC tuner to receive digital programming is HD-ready.

Most cable and satellite providers that offer HD content also offer you this tuner or you can purchase one directly.

Usually LCD TVs are HD-ready, while the HD Plasma comes with an integrated HDTV-capable tuner.
