HDTV or EDTV?

While EDTV doesn’t offer the total lifelike quality viewing of HDTV, its resulting picture is closer to HDTV than it is to regular television.

With 720 progressive scanning (1280×720 pixels) or 1080 interlaced (1920×1090 pixels), HDTV meets all the requirements for displaying high definition broadcasts.

EDTV displays content in 480 progressive scan (640×480 pixels), which is the maximum resolution available in DVD content today.

EDTV units are not capable of displaying higher resolution HD content.
